The New Sherborne Sinfonia

Oliver Nelson  conductor

30 July to 6 August 2023

The New Sherborne Sinfonia welcomes orchestral instrumentalists of a wide range of standards (self assessment of Grade 5 upwards). It is suitable for the experienced amateur, late learner and those returning after a playing break and will explore the standard orchestral repertoire, as well as some popular twentieth century classics.

This friendly, supportive and enthusiastic course is tailored to those wishing to improve their musical skills, expand their orchestral experience and have fun making music together.

Instrumentalists of all types are welcome and, via transcription and arrangement (where necessary), it will ensure all participants are kept busy and stimulated.

Aside from rehearsals and an informal concert towards the end of the week, there will be ample leisure time in which course members can explore their own chamber music pursuits, attend recitals and concerts, go for a swim, or simply socialise and relax.
