                           UPDATE         February 2021

It is with enormous disappointment that we have cancelled the 2021 Sherborne Summer School of Music.

We are a residential, adult, international summer school of music and our decision was based on the impracticality of social distancing whilst making live music and the overwhelming duty to ensure that everyone attending the event is kept safe from the possibility of contracting the virus.

The first Summer School of Music was in 1952 and, with due care and consideration for the safety and well-being of our students, the next will be in August 2022

Located at Sherborne School for Boys and set in the pretty medieval market town of Sherborne in Dorset, the Sherborne Summer School of Music (founded in 1952) is the ideal venue for adult musicians of all ages and abilities to meet in a friendly, supportive atmosphere and enhance their skills through the help of our dedicated internationally celebrated teachers.

Sherborne School is full of musical potential with its state-of-the-art music school, a theatre, recital and concert halls and a wealth of rehearsal spaces.  In addition, we are fortunate to have the opportunity of presenting recitals and concerts in the beautiful Cheap Street Church and Sherborne Abbey.

Students have the choice of being resident or non-resident  Accommodation is available in small dormitories, single and twin-bedded rooms.  For those taking meals at the school,  these are provided by an award-winning catering team who are pleased to assist those with specific dietary requirements.

Have a look at our 2019 Concertfest to view the thirty recitals and concerts given by both professionals and our students during the two weeks.
